Office Procedures
After visit instructions
​
The day of the procedure:
-
After on office procedure, spend the rest of the day in bed. Binge a show on Netflix, or read a book or magazine. Get out of bed only to use the bathroom, eat a meal or walk the dog.

No bathing on the day of the procedure. You can bathe normally the day after.

After the procedure:
1. It is normal to have a bloody discharge for 1-2 weeks.
2. No sexual intercourse for 1 week. Outercourse is okay.
3. No douching, tampons, or swimming for 1 week.
4. It is normal to have mild cramping for several days.
5. Mild pain can be treated with Ibuprofen or Tylenol.

Vulvar Biopsy/Breast Biopsy - Special Instructions:

Apply ice packs to the biopsy site twice a day for 1-2 days.

If you have stitches: Apply a dab of Aquaphor to the incision twice a day for 1 week.

If you notice steri (paper) strips over the incision: they will fall off on their own or you may remove them after 1 week. Apply Aquaphor to the incision only AFTER the steri strips fall off not before.

If you have a dressing over the skin, you can remove it 2 days after the procedure. The dressing is waterproof and you may shower with the dressing on.

-Pathology reports will be available in about 1 week (if a specimen was taken)

-Get some rest, and take it easy.
